I am from Redmond, Washington, and a Vietnamese 1st generation immigrant. Outside of Taiko, I enjoy singing, playing guitar, and sleeping. I have three sisters! (and no brothers -_-)
I first heard of Taiko when Yuki told me she was starting a group here at SU, but I didn't follow up until the winter club fair. I was already sold on joining when I saw how much fun the performers were having, but then I was invited up to try it out. I haven't looked back since. What I love about Hidaka Taiko... - pushing yourself in a supportive environment - being a piece of a whole greater than anything I could be alone - the wholesomeness, personality, and individuality that shines through each member during pieces. - HIDAKA How do you feel about Hidaka Taiko this year? This year has been a drastic shift from other years because so many new members have joined. We [Gen 1/2] have had to get quickly get used to teaching a lot, setting good examples, and giving Elias the support he needs during practice. This is challenging for us not only because we weren't used to teaching so much, but also because we're all memes and like how are you supposed to set a good example when you're a meme. It's been a large learning experience and a lot of fun to be with Hidaka, and I look forward to seeing how our group continues to develop in the future! Updates on life... I joined a local group called Seattle Matsuri Taiko! I was originally only going to play with them for the summer, but I had so much fun being a member that I ended up joining. No such thing as too much Taiko! Oh I'm also going to Japan for Spring Semester so that's pretty DOPE. |
