I'm a yung scholar/friend/Viet American/Bay Area kid that's always on the quest for more boba to drink and more dogs to pet.
Fun facts!
I've done a TEDx Talk! Maple syrup makes me poop. I started playing during the end of May 2017 because my friends (Jen and Carlo) wanted to go to practice and I decided to tag along! Nothing else that I had done in my first year of college made me feel the way that I did at that first practice – excited and inspired, so I've stuck with it ever since.
What I love about Hidaka Taiko... I love the energy, the collaboration, the support, and the silliness of Hidaka. We've all got our own quirks and it comes out in how we play: chaotic and energetic and always a Good Time™. How do I feel about Hidaka Taiko this year? Refreshed! There's a lot of new energy and reminds me of how excited I was about taiko when I first joined. I'm trying to channel those feelings again into how I'm playing this year. Updates on life... I still struggle with feeling like I'm not a good enough player/student/person/whatever. It's hard to let go of perfectionism. But I've been learning this year that it's less about being the best person in the room and more about being the best person that you can be for yourself. So to me, being a better player has become about more than just good form and sick solos -- it's about playing with my heart, supporting others, and remembering to have a good time. |
